Every Business Should Start With Why

Every Business Should Start With Why

The way I explain the importance of starting with ‘Why’ to business owners is like this. Imagine you were interviewing me to be your new advisor and you asked me what we do at SiDCOR, I would give you two responses. One starting with ‘What’, and one starting with ‘Why’; and then I’d like you to tell me which one you were more connected with and which one would make you want to do business with me. Here we go:

  1. We are award winning accountants who deliver cutting edge tax strategies to ensure our clients pay the least amount of tax legally possible. We do this by only hiring staff who love what they do and treat your success as their success; so they ask the questions that count and deeply understand your family and business so we can identify the best tax strategies for you.
  2. At SiDCOR everything we do is about growing into our potential. We believe that small business owners live their life and identity through their business. And for what they put on the line to operate that business the last thing they need is to pay more tax than they have to. That's why we only hire staff who love what they do and treat your success as their success. They will ask the questions that count and deeply understand your family and business so we can identify the best tax strategies for you. It's on the back of this that we guarantee you will pay the least amount of tax legally possible.

Which one resonated with you more? I’m yet to have someone say the first one.

So next time someone asks you, so what do you do? You should really start with ‘Why’!
